Frequently Asked Questions

What is kinesiology?

Kinesiology is a holistic approach to healthcare. I use it  to get to the root of the problem my client is experiencing - not just address the symptoms. Often the area to be addressed first is the digestive system. It is  important to understand how digestion is working, to ensure the body is getting the nutrition it needs and it is absorbing those nutrients. I examine and aim to improve nutritional deficiencies, intolerances, enzyme efficiency, gut dysbiosis and  other aspects of digestion and absorption. Digestion is affected in many people by things like stress, illness, medication and  toxins. My aim is not just to improve the digestive system but to deal with the underlying reasons for its problems.

How does kinesiology work?

Kinesiology uses a system of muscle testing to assess what is going on in the body. Muscle testing has been used for generations to assess the health of the body. Techniques and concepts from the world of chiropractice have been blended with the art of acupuncture to give an insight into the systems of the body.

What do I have to do in a consultation?

The client takes off their shoes and lies on a massage table fully clothed.

What should I wear?

Loose fitting comfortable clothes, and ideally, trousers as you will have to lift your legs and arms for muscle testing.

How long is a consultation and how much does it cost?

A consultation usually lasts an hour and costs €70 (cash or card). Most clients require a follow up treatment though improvement is often felt after the first treatment.

How is nutrition involved?

For many clients, certain vitamins and minerals are lacking in their bodies which are necessary for a healthy digestive system. These will need to be supplemented for the client to return to better health.

Do many people suffer from food intolerances?
Food intolerances are very common because of intensive farming, high processing and the genetic modification of the food we eat. The human digestive system has not evolved fast enough to keep up with  the changes in food production. I can identify which foods you are intolerant to which saves elimination diets and guessing.

How do you deal with food intolerances?

It may be necessary to remove that food from the diet for health to improve. For some it will only be for a short time while we strengthen the digestive system, especially if the intolerance comes from underactive enzymes. For others the food may need to be removed from the diet indefinitely. It is important to remember that everyone is an individual and there are no hard and fast rules.

Is kinesiology suitable for children?

Many of my clients are children who have received great benefit from kinesiology.

What do I need to do following a consultation? I will give you advice on diet, lifestyle and supplements which will help improve your health. I cannot make you better - that is up to you! I do not give restrictive plans that are impossible to follow - rather small changes that done every day make big changes to overall health. I hope you will feel empowered to take charge of your own health.
